ABOUT THAT'S MY CHILD

That’s My Child (TMC) mentors teens through arts, education and entrepreneurship to develop the talent and skills necessary to become leaders in our community.

TMC offers the following programs for teens ages 14 - 19:

TEENS TO WORK PROGRAM - A job readiness program that prepares teens for the workforce while connecting them to local employers;
MENTORS OF MONTGOMERY - A mentoring program for young men and women that builds confidence,while improving academic performance and teaching leadership skills necessary to become productive citizens;
LIVING LEGENDS DANCE TEAM - A movement-based art program for young women and men that encourages self-confidence, provides a therapeutic, creative outlet and teaches leadership skills necessary for success in our community;
THAT’S MY DOG JR. - America’s first teen operated restaurant that provides paid on the job training (earn as you learn) opportunities for all teens in our community.

The Effect of Our Work

  • A more equitable society without generational poverty.

  • A teen-operated restaurant that empowers and employs teens in our community opened in early 2019.

  • TMC has been awarded with several accolades and awards from the City of Montgomery police department for helping to curb the violence in our community, have been honored by our local Chamber of Commerce with the Impacted Award for strengthening our local work-force with a new generation in our work-based-learning program, and most recently, TMC was honored by the
    State of Alabama and Governor Kay Ivey for our approach to workforce development with the Alabama Works Innovator Award and in 2022 we received the Governor’s Seal of Excellence in Work- Based Learning award.
